URJ CAMPS

Temple Emanuel is committed to engaging our youth throughout the entire year as a foundation for lifelong engagement in Reform Judaism. In this vein, we are pleased to offer a $500 scholarship to any of our members looking to attend a URJ summer camp for the first time – $250 from the Temple and $250 from the Brotherhood. We are grateful to all of these pieces of our Temple community who have made this possible. If you have any questions or want to double-check if you qualify, please email executive director Dianne Neiman.

The URJ offers 11 wonderful traditional camp experiences for campers entering grades 3-10. Some of our staff members worked in some of them, like our Director of Youth Engagement, Snir Holtzman, who worked at URJ Camp OSRUI in Oconomowoc, WI. Feel free to reach out to our staff for more questions regarding URJ Camps. Within our region, URJ Camp Harlam is a traditional comprehensive camp, which includes bus transportation from the DC area. Temple Emanuel students may also be interested in the URJ’s three specialty camps: URJ 6-Points Sports Academy, URJ 6-Points Sci-Tech Academy, and URJ 6-Points Creative Arts Academy.
Nestled in the foothills of the magnificent Pocono Mountains in rural Pennsylvania, URJ Camp Harlam provides the finest in recreational and educational activities for Reform Jewish youth. Established in 1958, Camp Harlam has developed a strong tradition of success and excellence based on a highly skilled staff dedicated to the spiritual, physical, social and psychological well-being of each child. We’re particularly proud of our open and inclusive communities that are sensitive to the needs of interfaith and diverse families.
Six Points Sports Academy is where young athletes are trained for life. We offer our campers intensive, high quality athletic instruction, and individual attention. Our athletes live in state-of-the art facilities, under supervision of positive role models while learning life lessons on and off the playing fields in a Reform Jewish setting.
At URJ 6 Points Sci-Tech Academy, scientific inquiry meets fun! Girls and boys entering grades 5-10 develop hypotheses, perform experiments, and test out new technologies in a supportive, vibrant Jewish community. Our campers ask big questions, and discover real answers.
At Six Points Creative Arts Academy, the program staff, campers, and site work together to create a holistic, meaningful experience for artists in a living laboratory for learning and performing. Our program focuses on the whole child, fostering personal advancement and resilience while creating an aspirational arc of growth and possibilities.

The combinations of typical days and special programs equal a fun packed summer experience!
Perlman Camp is a Jewish overnight summer camp for children entering grades 2 through 12 that provides a foundation for campers to develop into independent thinkers and build lifelong connections.
