Sunday, April 29 concert to feature, "Mariachi El Rey"
We are pleased to announce that the Annual Global Mitzvah Concert will take place as scheduled. Although the Colombian band, "Gaiteros de Sanguashington", is no longer able to join us, we look forward to the musical repertoire of "Mariachi El Rey" and the variety of Latin sounds they present. Green Team—Temple Emanuel’s environmental working group, formerly known as Green Shalom—is back in action!
Our first activities of the new year will be preparation for and participation in two upcoming protest marches, the Science March on Saturday April 22 and the People’s Climate March on Saturday, April 29.
Climate change is one of the greatest challenges humanity has ever faced. The People’s Climate March will protest the new administration’s climate change denial and its emerging policies, which threaten to undermine national and global progress in climate change mitigation and adaptation. It is a march for climate, justice, and jobs. It advocates not only for the planet we share—and the only one we will ever have—but also for justice and economic issues associated with its degradation.
Temple Emanuel is an official supporter of the People’s Climate March. In a partnership with Interfaith Power and Light, we plan to join other Jewish communities in protest. Green Team or not, all Temple Emanuel members are invited to support the People’s Climate March in any way they can. Here are a few ideas:
