Adult Education: Plan educational opportunities for adults
ARZA: Raises the visibility of Israel within the congregation; leads educational programs; advocates on behalf of Reform principles in Israel; supports travel to Israel
Board of Education: Works closely with the Director of Education in the management and supervision of the Religious School (Participation by invitation only)
Building and Grounds: Evaluates and makes recommendations on building and grounds requirements
Community Social Action Council: Promotes and helps organize activities locally that allow opportunities to perform mitzvot; supports related activities throughout the congregation; strengthens the ability of all Temple volunteers to make a difference in our community
Family Concern: Provides additional assistance to members in need (Participation by invitation only)
Finance: Develops the annual budget and provides financial recommendations to the Board. (Participation by invitation only)
Global Mitzvah Team: Supports the international charitable projects of our Global Mitzvah Project
Human Resources: Working in partnership with the Temple professionals, this committee is responsible for developing, defining and articulating the synagogue's policies regarding its employees. (Participation by invitation only)
KESTY: Temple Emanuel Youth Group for teens grades 8-12; affiliated with NFTY
kesty Alef-Bet: Temple Emanuel Youth Group for children grades K-3
kesty45: Temple Emanuel Youth Group for children grades 4-5
kesty j.: Temple Emanuel Youth Group for children grades 6-7
Kulanu: Supports and sponsors gay, lesbian, bi-sexual and transgender inclusion and programming at Temple Emanuel and the community
Meal of Comfort: Serves a meal to the family after a funeral
Membership: Responsible for recruiting new members and working on membership retention
Oneg Coordination: Works with the entire Temple membership to coordinate the Oneg Shabbat after services
Philanthropy and Special Events: Coordinates and prioritizes philanthropy at Temple Emanuel
Religious Practices: Assists the clergy in matters pertaining to Religious Practices, including prayer books, High Holiday honors and special projects (Participation by invitation only)
Senior Focus: Coordinates play readings and the Annual Chanukah luncheon
SOME (So Others Might Eat): Temple Emanuel participates in the Provide-A-Meal program that feeds the homeless and poor people in the Greater Washington, DC area.
Torah Study: All are welcome to join our discussions of the weekly Torah portion and the other books comprising the Hebrew Bible. There is a drop-in class Monday evenings, and a Minyan and Torah Study group which meets on Saturday mornings.
Tot Shabbat: Monthly Shabbat services, appropriate for babies through age 7, led by Cantor Boxt or Debra Winter. Services at 6pm, followed by dinner at 6:30
Youth: Sustains and oversees the quality, scope, and programming of the Temple community's youth programs; the liaison between and among the senior youth group (KESTY), the junior youth group (kesty j.), and the congregation; serves as both the adult advocate for temple youth programming and the agent within the congregation to ensure that the philosophies, policies and standards of the temple are implemented and upheld
