Sunday, June 11, Noon-7:00 pmAs in years past, Temple Emanuel's Kulanu Committee will have a table at the Capital Pride Festival. The Festival will be held downtown, on Pennsylvania Avenue between 4th and 13th Streets, NW. The Festival is always a wonderful experience for Temple members. Not only does the Temple's presence provide excellent outreach to the LGBT community, but it also demonstrates much needed support, especially in light of recent developments with respect to transgender youth.Volunteers Needed - Anyone interested in more information or in taking a two-hour shift (or more) at the table, please contact Temple Pride Festival Coordinator, Emily Marcus Levine at 202-213-4612 or email@example.com or Kulanu Co-Chair David Fishback at firstname.lastname@example.org or 301-924-1791.The mission of the Kulanu Committee is to support Temple Emanuel’s increasingly diverse community as we seek to welcome, celebrate, and honor each other’s identities. Kulanu was formed initially to advocate for the inclusion of LGBT Jews, same-sex couples, and families with same-sex parents. Over time, its mission has expanded to encompass the range of diversity in our community, including family structure, race and ethnicity, religious background, familiarity with Judaism, age, economic circumstances, political views, and physical and mental health.
